Dharmik Bhatt
My name, Dharmik, loosely translates to someone who tries to do the right thing.
I don’t always succeed but over time, it has become something I try to move towards, in both work and life. I’m a filmmaker and storyteller, working across narrative and documentary forms.
My work explores stories through a combination of writing, visuals and observation often focusing on human experiences, memory and the relationship between people and their environment.
I approach storytelling as an evolving process rather than a fixed structure.
A story may begin as a written idea, a visual moment or a question that does not yet have an answer. Over time, it develops through different forms from scripts and visual concepts to films and illustrated narratives allowing each idea to take shape in its own way.
I began with observation — documenting places, people, and everyday moments.
Over time, that evolved into filmmaking and later into animation and narrative storytelling.
Alongside this, my involvement in environmental work grew, eventually becoming an ongoing part of my life.
Today, I move between these spaces building, observing, and trying to connect them in meaningful ways.
I prefer working across the full process from idea to execution. Whether it’s a film, a short sequence, or a project, I’m interested in how it comes together as a whole. At the same time, I’m open to collaboration, especially with people who bring different perspectives and can challenge the way I think.
I tend to value how a person thinks more than how they present themselves.
Over time, I’ve moved towards simplicity in work, in choices, and in approach.
I’m also open to contributing where I can whether that’s through collaboration, sharing knowledge, or helping someone move forward with an idea.
I come from Bharat a place with a long history of ideas, philosophies, and ways of thinking.
At the same time, I’ve worked with people across different parts of the world, which has shaped how I see both not as opposites, but as conversations.
I’m always building, always learning, and always exploring where these paths lead.
